Every day, companies advertise available employment positions. When read properly, employment ads offer huge opportunities if you sell to companies.

The companies are looking to hire for a particular position or a group of people. If you sell recruiting services, then you should follow up with these companies.

More opportunities come from what you can infer from the employment ad. Ask yourself what the company does and what positions it’s trying to fill.

If a company is recruiting for a sales manager, then you may infer that, in the future, the company would be a good target for a sales training program or customer relationship management software. If the company is recruiting for a senior IT security specialist, then it’s logical that the company is prepared to make further investments in IT security products and services. Look for companies that are recruiting for the positions that either influence or make the decision to purchase your product or service.

You can find employment ads in many places, including local and national newspapers and their websites, on job websites, and in trade magazines and publications (usually in the back). The largest job websites include: www.careerbuilder.com, www.hotjobs.com, and www.monster.com. To find additional job websites, you can use any search engine. In local and national newspapers, be sure to look for the higher-level employment advertisements that are sometimes located in another area outside of the classified section (many times in the business section).
