The Book of Lists contains a compilation of the lists regularly published by the individual journals. For example, the Washington Business Journal Book of Lists offers 105 lists covering 3,100 organizations with 4,072 contacts (as of mid 2006).

The lists are often the top 25 providers of a particular type of product or service in the local market.
